The Alicante City Council and the Federation of Hogueras de San Juan organised the first meeting of the II Conference on Safety in the Festival this Saturday at the Puerta Ferrisa Auditorium.
During the event, the Councillors for Security, Julio Calero, and Festivals, Cristina Cutanda, the President of the Federation of Hogueras, David Olivares, and representatives from the Local Police, Civil Protection, and SAMU participated. The second meeting will take place on May 31 at the Vissum Clinic, with the participation of Firefighters and the Civil Guard.

"The aim of these conferences is to convey to the people of Alicante the basic recommendations and practical advice to promote safe and responsible Bonfire festivals, with a special emphasis on the correct handling of pyrotechnic materials," explained the Councillor for Security, Julio Calero.
Meanwhile, the Councillor for Festivals, Cristina Cutanda, highlighted the importance of these conferences and invited festival-goers to attend, noting that "information, prevention, and good practices are essential to avoid accidents and ensure everyone can enjoy the Bonfires without any mishaps."
Among other recommendations, agents and professionals emphasised the importance of respecting safety rules and especially protecting minors and pets. They also shared regulations and various recommendations regarding the sale and handling of pyrotechnic materials.
