"Unsustainable" situation in Elche's primary care, with medical schedules exceeding 50 patients a day. This is the public complaint made by the CCOO union regarding the health centres that are part of the Elche Health Department - General Hospital.
The union asserts that the waiting time for treatment not only spikes during seasonal periods associated with increased pathologies, but there is also a "constant healthcare pressure that leads to longer waits and diminishes the quality of care."
"The medical staff is exhausted, overwhelmed, and powerless to provide the community with the care it deserves," states the CCOO union section, sending a "clear and urgent" message to the public and the Health Minister, Marciano Gómez: Primary Care is collapsing, along with the population's right to receive quality healthcare in the Elche Department - General Hospital.
In light of this situation, the union demands a real and immediate increase in medical staff at Elche health centres, as well as a "well-defined contingency plan to alleviate the saturation of medical schedules under current circumstances."
