Medical Pedro Herrero and Calasancio Schools Revalidate First Prize in Fogueres Escolars Competition

Las hogueras escolares de Alicante ya conocen sus premios. Los colegios Médico Pedro Herrero (Juan XXIII) y Calasancio han sido los ganadores de esta decimonovena edición del concurso municipal, revalidando así el galardón respecto al año pasado.

Así lo ha determinado el jurado que ha recorrido los 17 centros educativos participantes. En esta ocasión, han sido nueve centros infantiles y ocho juveniles los que se han inscrito al concurso Fogueres Escolars, que cuenta con doble categoría. Los premios se concederán el lunes 16 de junio en un acto que se celebrará en el Ayuntamiento de Alicante.

The infant podium crowned by the bonfire of the Médico Pedro Herrero School (Juan XXIII) continues with the second prize for CEIP Cañada del Fenollar and the third for CEIP Pedro Duque of Alicante (won second in 2024).

In the adult category, the gold goes to Calasancio School, silver to CEIP Benalúa, and bronze to the Ampa of CEIP Mediterráneo.

The participating centres in the infant category are: CEIP Santísima Faz, CEIP La Cañada del Fenollar, CEIP Joaquín Sorolla, Jesuit Educational Foundation Centre-East, CEIP San Francisco de Asís, Sagrada Familia School, CEIP Pedro Duque, CEIP Juan XXIII, and CEIP La Florida.

In the juvenile category, the participants are: Section of IES Figueras Pacheco-El Bacarot, Santa María del Carmen School, CEIP Enric Valor, CEIP Benalúa, CEIP Santo Domingo, AMPA CEIP Mediterráneo, CEIP La Abufereta, and Calasancio School.

The infant category includes those bonfires in which students born in 2013 or later have participated in the design, creation, and assembly. In the juvenile category, those born in 2012 or later, or where the AMPA has participated in the design, creation, and/or assembly, regardless of the students' age group.

The prizes include school supplies and reading books. The first prize comes with the 'Pedro Soriano' trophy, a pennant, and a set of school supplies valued at 250 euros; the second, a pennant and a set worth 150 euros, and the third, a pennant and 100 euros in school supplies.

Additionally, the 'Manuel Porras' trophy will be awarded for the best design and composition to the Jesuit Educational Foundation Centre-East and the IES Figueras Pacheco-Bacarot Section, in the infant and juvenile categories respectively.
