Safety behind the wheel is a matter of paramount importance that goes beyond merely driving with caution. It is not just about obeying traffic signals but also ensuring that the vehicle is in optimal condition for driving. A car in poor condition not only endangers the life of the driver but also that of everyone sharing the road with them. Therefore, maintaining the car in perfect condition, with regular inspections and proper repairs, is an essential responsibility that helps prevent accidents and ensures a safe journey for all. In this regard, Pedro Bastida, a mechanic from the Vehicle Inspection Service (ITV), has posted a video on his Instagram account, where he is known as 'itvdeltiktok,' revealing the dangers of driving with tires in poor condition.

In the video, which quickly went viral, Bastida starts by showing one of the tires he was inspecting. With concern in his voice, he comments: "Look people, I don't know how some can drive calmly with their car like this," while bringing the camera closer so his followers can see the looseness of the tire. "Look at this huge amount of play in this tire; it’s practically coming off, and you can feel it a lot while driving because during acceleration, braking, and turning, you notice that the tire is completely loose," he explains, making it clear that this situation not only compromises the driver's safety but also that of all road users.

As the video continues, the mechanic details the dangers associated with tire looseness, emphasizing that it is not only uncomfortable but extremely dangerous. "Look at this massive movement it has; besides being very uncomfortable, it's super unsafe because the car can't drive like this," warns Bastida. "And the problem is not just this tire; the tire on the other side is completely loose as well. It doesn't have as much play as this one, but it's also loose. So we could say that the front axle of this car is practically loose and it's a danger on the road," he adds, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Other Dangers

However, the mechanic's warning does not stop at just the tires. During his inspection, he also identifies other critical issues with the vehicle. "Then we have here a vehicle with a completely broken boot and it's already de-greased. In fact, a rope has gotten in there and is wrapped around the CV joint and it also has significant play in the Silent block because it’s completely worn out, giving a lot of movement to the suspension arms," he describes, making it clear that these defects not only generate noise but make driving uncomfortable and dangerous.

Bastida's message is clear: driving with tires and other car components in such condition not only puts the driver's life at risk but also that of everyone sharing the road. Finally, although he acknowledges that some drivers may not realize their vehicle's poor condition, he warns: "I want to think they haven't noticed, but really, if you know your car well enough while driving, you do notice."
