Mbappé will not play tonight at Anoeta

Kylian Mbappé will not play tonight at Anoeta in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals against Real Sociedad. Carlo Ancelotti has excluded the French forward from the squad after Mbappé had a tooth extracted on Tuesday and did not train on the eve of the match. Thibaut Courtois and Fede Valverde are also absent from Real Madrid's list. For the Copa, Ancelotti relies on Andriy Lunin as the starting goalkeeper.

Ancelotti announced on Tuesday that Mbappé would travel to San Sebastián, but on Wednesday morning, the absence of the Bondy star from the squad was surprising. The list of 21 players includes Vinicius, Rodrygo, and Bellingham, who returns after serving a two-match suspension.

Carvajal, Militao, and Vallejo have also not been called up due to injury and are not considered by Ancelotti. The list for Anoeta includes up to five players from Real Madrid's youth categories: goalkeepers Fran González and Sergio Mestre, defender Asencio - already a regular in the starting eleven - midfielder Chema, and forward Gonzalo, the hero of the white team's previous Copa tie against Leganés.
