The University of Alicante (UA) is moving forward after the Valencian Community's High Court of Justice (TSJ) ruled in their favour regarding the Medicine degree at the San Vicente campus. The next goal is to arrange internships for students currently enrolled for the third year. For this purpose, the President of the Valencian Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, will meet with the rectors of the public universities in the province of Alicante, Amparo Navarro and Juan José Ruiz, to discuss the matter.
This announcement was made by the UA Rector, Amparo Navarro, during the presentation of the academic institution's objectives for 2025. Navarro supports a model similar to that of the Community of Madrid, which has five universities offering the Medicine degree.
In Madrid, each university has a public reference hospital, a model intended for Alicante. In this case, the Sant Joan Clinical Hospital could be affiliated with UMH due to its proximity to the faculty (located within the same health complex), and the General Doctor Balmis Hospital could be for the University of Alicante.
