The Campoamor neighbourhood in Alicante now boasts a new civic centre, inaugurated this Friday, which will serve multiple purposes. The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, visited the facility a day after the completion of its construction, which was valued at 1.6 million euros.
The building, spanning nearly a million square metres, will serve a triple purpose. Beyond being a centre for local residents, it will also provide services to minors under guardianship and host a 24-hour Women's Centre, offering comprehensive and uninterrupted support to victims of gender violence.
"It will be a space for coexistence, facilitating the integration of young people under guardianship into the daily life of this important Alicante neighbourhood," Mazón stated during his address. The 'president' also unofficially announced that the centre will be named after Luis Romero, the historic neighbourhood activist who passed away last year.

Additionally, Mazón highlighted the Consell's management in launching this centre, funded by European funds, ensuring that there was a risk of losing these due to the previous Valencian government's management under the Botànic.
Alicante already had a centre of this nature, as do the other provincial capitals of the Comunitat. Additionally, Dénia, Torrevieja, and Elda also have women's centres, although these offer 14-hour daily services (from 8 am to 10 pm). The Generalitat plans to establish a second 24-hour centre in the province, specifically in the city of Elche, as announced by the Consell leader this Friday.
