President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has deemed it 'irresponsible' to discuss 'internal and organisational' matters within the PP at this time, for which 'there will be time'. Currently, both his government and the PPCV are '100%' focused on reconstruction following the October 29 dana, in contrast to a Spanish Government that is 'dragging its feet'.
He expressed this in statements to the media on Monday after visiting the Cofrentes nuclear power plant (Valencia), following an event organised last Saturday by former President of the Generalitat Francisco Camps, who reiterated that he is 'at the disposal of a party that intends to stand and look to the future' and emphasised that it will be what the party members 'deem appropriate'.
Mazón stated that it is not his 'place' to assess this issue and affirmed that he has 'always' been 'very respectful' towards Camps and has 'always' described the situation he had to endure as 'very unfair', referring to the judicial ordeal that affected the former president in various cases in which he was acquitted. 'It goes without saying,' he added.
There will be 'time to discuss internal matters' within the PP, but 'not to discuss reconstruction' after the dana. Having said this, he guaranteed that his entire government and 'all of the PP of the Valencian Community are 100% focused on reconstruction'.
'Anything else would be irresponsible,' he considered. Therefore, he emphasised that all his 'attention', that of his government and the PPCV at this moment 'is on reconstruction, because there is no time for that'. 'To discuss internal and organisational matters would be irresponsible,' he maintained.
In this vein, when asked about a report published on Monday by 'El Periódico' stating that the PP president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, had allegedly asked his team to prepare for the departure of the head of the Consell this summer, Mazón simply stated: 'We are trying to make history with reconstruction, because the disaster we experienced with the flood was historic. The rest are just stories, which is different from history.'
Furthermore, he appreciated that, following the announcement of the national PP congress by Feijóo, there is 'hope'. 'I am very pleased that we are taking yet another step forward for the government that not only Spain needs, but more than ever the Valencian Community needs, because the current government is dragging its feet with recovery,' he asserted.
The head of the Consell highlighted that the region 'needs Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who has a 12 billion euro Valencia Plan underway, who is clear about the priority of reconstruction and recovery of the Valencian Community and has my full support as president of the People's Party of the Valencian Community.'
Meanwhile, he added, 'the rest of the rumours and things of that nature I leave to others' because the Valencian government, he reiterated, is 'determined on reconstruction, which is our commitment and my personal one.'
