The Head of the Consell Urges Compromís to Engage in Dialogue

El president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has made a "call" to Compromís to sit down and negotiate the Generalitat's budgets for 2025, a series of meetings that the head of the Consell intends to undertake "in a few days, after the holidays." The PSPV has already confirmed that it will attend this meeting if invited, although it seems unlikely that the socialists will reach an agreement with the popular party. Thus, in the absence of Compromís, the third pillar to undertake the reconstruction budgets must be Vox.

Few possibilities are left for Mazón to balance accounts and votes in the regional Parliament. The Alicante native is not closing the door to making deals with anyone, including nationalists. But they do not want to: "Not even attending the meetings is a grave mistake," the president considers.

The PP and Compromís already agreed at the beginning of the legislature on the composition of the Les Corts Board. At that time, they excluded a member of the PSPV (the former councillor Josefina Bueno) and the nationalists secured a position. An agreement that now seems difficult, but it was also challenging then.

For this reason, Mazón makes a "call" to Compromís to attend these meetings and has contrasted the coalition's attitude with that of the PSPV-PSOE. With the latter party, he has valued, the Consell can "have many disagreements, but when called, they come, and this is the truth."

For this reason, he has accused Compromís of "riding on the pain of the victims" of the storm and "taking political advantage of it": "That they have not even wanted to come and talk with the president of the Generalitat, I think it is very telling of where Compromís stands." Thus, he has criticized the coalition for not attending the meetings called by Mazón with the parliamentary group leaders.

The 'president' of the Generalitat has insisted that the Consell has "many measures to take," so he has considered that "it is worth discussing them," given that it is "the least the citizens deserve." "We are going to put on the table a budget project updated to what the entire Valencian Community needs and, very especially, the recovery," he concluded.
