The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has announced the establishment of a monitoring committee for budgeted investments in the province of Alicante, led by the Institute of Economic Studies of the Province of Alicante (Ineca). This initiative aims to provide data and justifications for the executed or unexecuted budget allocations each year.
This announcement was made by the head of the Consell in front of the president of Ineca, Ignacio Amirola, during the General Assembly of the Alicante institute, held at the Marq, which was also attended by the president of the Alicante Provincial Council, Toni Pérez, along with the institute's members.
During his speech, Mazón emphasized the achievement of passing a budget: "It is not easy to agree on a budget with a party different from yours and in the worst moment in the history of the Valencian Community." The president insists that this "provides stability and a roadmap to undertake significant investments."

In this regard, Mazón criticizes both the Government for not presenting the General State Budgets for the second consecutive year and the Botànic for the "lack of transparency" in the execution of budgeted investments. Therefore, Mazón has announced a monitoring committee for investments in the province, which will be led by Ineca and will include the president himself, along with the Minister of Finance and heads of areas such as Infrastructure, Innovation, or Health, among others that may join.
The idea, as explained by the head of the Consell, is "to understand why a budgeted allocation has not been executed, or why it has been successfully implemented." Mazón praises Ineca and assures that "I am aware of their capacity to do it, and therefore we will set up the committee when Ineca is ready." With this measure, the president hopes "to analyze the progress of projects and initiatives, address delays, and push timelines," asserting that "it is a very timely opportunity that comes at an extraordinary moment."
Investments and Budgets
During his speech, Mazón reviewed several of the budgeted or undertaken investments by his Government over the past two years, such as the central station of Alicante, the Elche bypass, or infrastructure plans like the duplication of the road between Torrevieja and Orihuela, the undergrounding of the Santa Faz roundabout, or the future Elche tram.
He also boasted about water investments, with 228 million euros projected for the next four years in the water purification network, which would elevate the Community to account for 45% of all purified water in Spain. Alongside this, he announced that phases one and two of the Júcar-Vinalopó post-transfer will be operational in 2026 following a 30 million euro investment.
Before concluding, the president criticized the Government and its lack of budgets, which is causing the debt to be paid with the 2023 CPI. According to Mazón, the Community is losing 165 million euros per month in debt relief due to the absence of updated General State Budgets.
