The mayor of the Cordovan town of El Carpio, Carlos Peláez, reported homophobic graffiti this Tuesday against him on the facade of a public building in the municipality. This is the second time in less than a year that it has happened to him and therefore he has warned that he will send the images from the security cameras in the area to the court in order to identify the alleged perpetrator or perpetrators.

The councilor has published an image on his Instagram account in which a graffiti reading "Die faggot" appears and in the text he has responded to those who have wished for his death. "Yes, I am a faggot. Yes, I am from the Popular Party. Yes, you are cowards. No, I am not going to die. No, you do not scare me," he began by saying.

"If you think this is going to affect me in any way, you are mistaken," said the mayor. In addition, the governor took the opportunity to inform that it has been approved "unanimously by all groups to include El Carpio in the network of proud municipalities, precisely because although it seems unbelievable there are still idiots, brutes, animals who think they can harass people for their sexual orientation."

In this regard, he stated that "wishing death is something very strong," in relation to the graffiti and assured that he will continue doing what he does, "being the mayor of my town."

The mayor has encouraged them to "show their faces," make an appointment and meet with him in his office to tell him what problems they have with him and "what is the problem with me liking men," he emphasized, to stress that he will continue "working for an inclusive town proud of everyone."

Several PP officials have shown their support for the councilor of this town in Córdoba and have strongly condemned these acts of vandalism. From the Córdoba party they have pointed out that "violence, homophobia and discrimination have no place in politics or in our society."
