The 'MasterChef' programme filmed in Alicante now has an air date. Following the recordings at the end of March in the 25 de Mayo square, behind the Central Market, and at El Postiguet beach, the episode will air this Monday, 16th June at 22:50 on RTVE.
The 'MasterChef' teams arrived in Alicante after its designation as the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy. Their presence in the city caused excitement and anticipation among the public, who eagerly gathered at these locations turned into outdoor sets for the culinary talent show.
Alongside the contestants, the jury members also appeared, consisting of chefs Samantha Vallejo-Nájera, Pepe Rodríguez, and Jordi Cruz; who also enjoyed a dinner at the Nou Manolín restaurant in Alicante after the filming of MasterChef.
MasterChef's Menu in Alicante
The main set for this 'MasterChef' programme in Alicante is the breakwater at El Postiguet beach - next to the Meliá hotel. It was there that the participants held one of the outdoor challenges of the television contest.
During the day, the 'MasterChef' contestants paid tribute to Alicante cuisine. The challenge, however, was "complicated," according to the show's producers. The menu consists of four dishes created by Michelin-starred chef Joaquín Baeza.

As a prelude to the cooking, the 'MasterChef' judges also visited the Central Market of Alicante. It was at its stalls that they got to know the Alicante produce in depth and exchanged views with Mayor Luis Barcala.
Afterwards, they went to El Postiguet beach, where the outdoor challenge of 'MasterChef' was filmed, with the task of serving Baeza's menu to fifty locals and "local personalities." Among them were the Councillor for Tourism, Ana Poquet, and the Councillor for Hospitality, Commerce, and Markets, Lidia López.
Alicante, "a world full of flavours"
After filming this episode of 'MasterChef', now with an air date, the producers highlight that "walking through the streets of Alicante is to immerse oneself in a world full of flavours where tradition and culinary innovation intertwine masterfully."
"Known as 'the City of Rice', its culinary offering goes beyond, highlighting the freshness of its fish and seafood, the products of its orchards, its characteristic traditional desserts, and its deep-rooted ice cream tradition."
The mayor highlighted that the fact that the culinary talent show has chosen Alicante "provides a fantastic showcase for our excellent gastronomy and local products to be known in a special year, holding the capital status that precisely aims to promote Alicante cuisine, both traditional and innovative, and to encourage tourism around fine dining."
