Mass at the Santa Faz Farmhouse in Alicante to be Dedicated to the Pope

La Santa Faz is all set for its big day, both externally and internally. The streets are already lined with elements to ensure order and safety during the pilgrimage, while inside the farmhouse, ideas are being shaped for the climax: the Eucharist.

The event will take place between 10:30 and 11:30 am when, after the pilgrimage, the Santa Faz trustees, councillors Ana Poquet and Julio Calero, along with Chaplain Miguel Ángel Cremades, will open - with the four required keys - the niche that houses the Santa Faz Relic.

The bishop José Ignacio Munilla will carry the face of Christ in his hands, under a canopy, in a procession leading from the shrine to Luis Foglietti Square where the Santa Faz mass will be celebrated.

The bishop will place the Reliquary on the altar, in front of all the people of Alicante and visitors who will come on Thursday to venerate the Santa Faz. After various blessings, along with the purification with incense, he will offer a mass that will include "a special remembrance for the memory of Pope Francis".

The monastery chaplain has exclusively revealed to TodoAlicante that the mass will be offered to the Pontiff, buried this Saturday, whose image remains inside the Santa Faz shrine as a sign of mourning for his death.

Additionally, the faithful gathered in front of the main entrance of the Santa Faz of Alicante will also pray for the new Pontiff. It is expected that the conclave to elect the next Holy Father will take place from May 4, after the pilgrimage.

Nonetheless, Chaplain Cremades wants the entire Alicante community to pray for the new Pope before knowing him. In this way, the veneration for the next Pontiff is assured, and his mandate begins with the blessing of the 'Divine Face, mercy'.
