Christmas is the time of year when families go to great lengths to gather around the table, and a miracle occurred at the Cotswolds London home. Princes Pavlos and Marie-Chantal managed to fulfill one of Anne-Marie of Greece's wishes: to gather all family members, including all her children and grandchildren. The photo was taken on Christmas Eve and shared by both Marie-Chantal and the Greek royal family's social media, who have plenty of reasons to celebrate these days. Just a week ago, they achieved a long-sought goal: regaining the Greek nationality that was stripped from them in 1994. "That law rendered us stateless, with all the implications for individual rights and great emotional suffering," they recalled last week. The final requirement to regain nationality was to adopt a surname—the Greek royal family never had one—hence they adopted that of their uncle, Michael of Greece.
Thus, feeling more Greek than ever, they posed on the grand staircase of Pavlos and Marie-Chantal's northeast London residence with their five children, Tino, Achileas, Odysseas, Olympia, and Aristides, as well as Alexia of Greece, her husband, the Canary architect Carlos Morales, and their four children, Arrietta, Amelia, Carlos, and Ana María Morales. The image also features Prince Philip and his wife, Nina Flohr, and Prince Nikolaos of Greece, who is spending his first holidays alone after separating from Tatiana Blatnik. As some leave the picture, others join. This is the case of Theodora of Greece's newlywed husband, American lawyer Matthew Kumar, whom the family's youngest member married in Athens last October.
Thus, the Greek royal family concludes a happy 2024, much to Queen Anne-Marie's satisfaction, after a challenging 2023 that began with the death of King Constantine.
