The selection of Melody as Spain's next representative at Eurovision concluded the musical segment of the Benidorm Fest last Saturday night, simultaneously launching its promotional, tourism, and political aspects for an upcoming fifth edition, which, for now, does not have its continuation in Benidorm officially confirmed.

As previously reported by TodoAlicante last week, all parties intend for the Costa Blanca's tourist capital and the television festival to extend their relationship. This was publicly expressed by the city's mayor, Toni Pérez, and RTVE officials, and was also confirmed by sources from the Tourism Department to this outlet.

Now, with Melody already preparing for her May debut in Basel, the regional aspect of the equation has been officially confirmed, as the Tourism Minister, Marián Cano, has reaffirmed the Generalitat's commitment to the Benidorm Fest, thereby consolidating it as a key event for tourism promotion and economic development in the region.

In light of the success data and the consolidation of the Benidorm Fest as a strategic event, Marián Cano confirmed that the Generalitat will renew the agreement with RTVE for a new edition in 2026. "It is a fundamental tourism product in our strategy to counteract seasonality," stated the minister, thus ensuring the continuity of a festival that has become a cultural and tourism benchmark in the Valencian Community.

Strategic Event for the Valencian Community

After reviewing the impact data of the Benidorm Fest 2025, held from January 28 to February 1, the minister emphasized that "there is no longer any doubt about the Generalitat's commitment to this event, after four editions in which it has consolidated around its own brand." Cano highlighted that the current goal is to establish the festival as a musical and promotional reference with a positive return for the entire Valencian Community.

The Benidorm Fest, which has become an unmissable event for music in Spain, has reached record audience figures. The final, broadcast by TVE, attracted 1.93 million viewers with a 17.1% audience share, an increase of 0.5% compared to 2024 and 2.4% compared to 2023. During the gala, audience peaks of 24.1% were recorded, making it the most-watched program of the night and reaching its "golden minute" at 22:04.

International Impact on Social Media

One of the most notable data points of this edition was the global reach of the event. According to Cano, "each new edition attracts more foreign audiences" and the festival "transcends borders worldwide." In 2025, the final gala was followed from 84 countries via social media, compared to 25 in the previous edition.

Spain led social media viewership with 68.8%, followed by Colombia (17.8%), Mexico, and Venezuela. Additionally, the event became a Trending Topic both nationally and globally.

During the final, X recorded 154,000 mentions, a figure that rose to 191,000 during the second semifinal. TikTok also reflected a significant impact with 36,600 posts, while Google registered over 50,000 searches related to the Benidorm Fest.

Record Streaming on Digital Platforms

The festival's success also extended to streaming platforms. The first semifinal generated over 4.5 million plays on Spotify among the participants' songs. The contest winner, Melody, also led with 1.5 million plays, followed by La Chispa with 1 million. Other notable artists included J Kbello (548,000 plays) and Daniela B. (488,000). On YouTube, the artists' official channels recorded a total of 1.7 million views.
