María Roig, the writer and actress, arrives in Alicante to present her debut novel, 'Housewife', published by Lumen, marking her entry into the literary scene. The event will take place this Thursday, 8th May, at 7 PM at the 80 Mundos Bookstore in the city centre, with Laura Rodríguez Albertus also participating.
'Housewife' brings back to life the Barcelona neighbourhood of Carmel, which collapsed in 2005, along with its residents. Within its pages, María Roig's pen blends intimacy and social critique to delve into and reflect on the visible and invisible wounds of childhood.
The story, told from the perspective of a nine-year-old girl, merges personal memories with elements of fiction, exploring themes such as precariousness, faith, family, and the everyday resilience of women.
This novel was brought to life thanks to a crowdfunding campaign led by the author herself, whose life experience, amidst "precarious jobs and literary studies", permeates every page of the book.
Attendees at the 'Housewife' presentation will have the opportunity to delve into the novel and chat with its author, María Roig, one of the new literary voices on the national scene, emerging with stories that focus on life from the margins.
