The annual awards gala of the Business Union of the Province of Alicante (Uepal), held this Friday in Castalla, recognized the entities of the province highlighted for their contribution to the development of business associationism and awarded Manuel Peláez Robles for his business career. The businessman expressed feeling "extremely happy, delighted that my colleagues recognize me." Peláez, who remembered his father, Manuel Peláez Castillo, valued the figure of the province's businessman and his role as a generator of economic and social progress.

The awardee pointed out that "in times where technology and politics are faster, we must be more flexible and more adaptable to reality." He also noted the need for "entrepreneurs to have social awareness, solidarity responsibility, and future vision with their land, hallmarks of the province's entrepreneurs."

Peláez Robles has been recognized for his long contribution to the business associative world, and participation in major entities such as AVE, Fopa, and Coepa, among many others.

Other awardees

The other awardees were the Provincial Association of Building and Premises Cleaning Companies of Alicante (AELPA), with the Award for Promoting the Incorporation and Active Participation of Women in business governance bodies.

The Award for Promoting Training went to the Official College of Industrial Technical Engineers of Alicante; the Vinalopó Business Circle will receive the Award for Promoting the Province's Structuring. Meanwhile, Terciario Avanzado was selected with the award for Promoting the Provincial Economy.

Finally, Antonio Fuster, Uepal's general secretary, received recognition from the business entity for his extensive career in the business association world, from AEFA, under the presidency of Francisco Gómez, to the constitution of Uepal itself.

The president of Uepal, César Quintanilla, highlighted that the awardee is "a born fighter, a man who always yearns to know and learn, who seeks to give more of himself, and give the best in any circumstance, in any situation." He advocated for the figure of the entrepreneur and the social role it has, and the need for concrete support from administrations, as is happening with the Consell, which has begun to listen to entrepreneurs.

Quintanilla has called for a unique space for the province of Alicante within the Community. From his point of view, this unity of the Community is essential to face the challenges the country has. The president of Uepal believes that "it is the time for the province of Alicante," despite the situation of underfunding and lack of infrastructure the region suffers.

"Yes, our province wants to be in the place it deserves, where it can be more useful in the Valencian Community and in Spain as a whole," Quintanilla claimed.

Estrategia del Consell

The Minister of Innovation, Industry, Commerce, and Tourism, Nuria Montes, directly asked the president of Uepal "for more things to do for you, for the entrepreneurs."

Montes recalled that the strategy being developed by the regional government "aims to overcome entrenched situations such as the underfunding suffered by the Valencian Community and the lack of investment by the central government in modern and adequate infrastructure." Montes also called on the central government for other actions such as the expansion of the Alicante-Elche airport.

Among the own challenges, the head of Industry assured the entrepreneurs that 10 million square meters of industrial land will be developed in this legislature and energy self-sufficiency for the Valencian Community will be ensured.

These awards are sponsored by Grupo Cajamar and supported by the Alicante Provincial Council and CEV Alicante.
