The El Campello Town Council plans to partially pedestrianise some streets in its urban centre, a strategy framed within the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS). The first road to be affected by this measure is Main Street, where nearly all parking spaces have already been removed.
The council explains that the measure is "well-received by the public" and is also motivated by the fact that the pedestrian space "is very limited and does not comply with accessibility regulations."
The action is planned in the investment annex prepared by the Public Infrastructure Councillor, Cristian Palomares, with a budget of 700,000 euros, who announces that the investment tender is scheduled for the 2026 fiscal year.
In the urban centre of El Campello, the streets with the highest pedestrian traffic are found, concentrating most services, whether health, commercial, administrative, or leisure.
"That is why it has been considered to continue future actions in the area, creating more accessible pedestrian routes and, in parallel, proposing solutions to compensate for the loss of parking due to these actions in the centre," emphasises Mayor Juanjo Berenguer.
