Officials from the Tax Agency, in a joint operation with National Police officers led by the European Public Prosecutor's Office, have dismantled an alleged multi-million euro fraud in the intra-community trade of luxury vehicles from Germany, resulting in the arrest of 30 individuals. The network operated in Alicante and twelve other Spanish provinces, according to investigation sources.

The total VAT fraud in Spain exceeds €17 million, as reported by the Tax Agency. The scam involved introducing vehicles using 'missing trader' companies, which failed to pay VAT to the Spanish Treasury. As a result, the vehicles were sold at below-market prices, and these companies accumulated a tax debt exceeding €17 million.

Specifically, 15 searches were conducted in Spain and two in Germany, during which €307,860 in cash, jewellery, and high-end vehicles were seized, and properties worth over €11 million were frozen. Financial products in Spain, Germany, Portugal, and Lithuania, used to commit tax fraud and money laundering, were also blocked.

According to the National Police, the organisation's leadership operated from Germany and was responsible for supplying vehicles to various dealerships located in Spain.

The cars were distributed through two branches of the network, responsible for transporting and delivering them in the Levante area and in Andalusia, specifically in Córdoba and the Costa del Sol. Meanwhile, a third branch of the group was tasked with creating the entire business structure necessary to carry out tax fraud and money laundering, as detailed by the same sources.

The operation was conducted in thirteen Spanish provinces (Madrid, Barcelona, Toledo, Málaga, Albacete, Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Almería, Granada, Jaén, Córdoba, and León) and in Germany, where the alleged leader of the organisation resided.
