Luke Evans' autobiography, 'The Boy from the Valleys of Wales', is set to be released in Spain on May 27. In it, the actor narrates his 'unexpected journey' to becoming a Hollywood star. The book also delves into his romances, including his relationship with Spanish model Jon Kortajarena, whom he describes as 'addictive'. Vanity Fair has previewed the chapter where the Beauty and the Beast star recalls their tumultuous romance filled with 'passion' and 'drama'. 'It was the first time I dated someone famous,' Evans notes, captivated by the model's beauty and personality when he first saw him at the amfAR gala, the Foundation for AIDS Research, during the Cannes Film Festival in 2014.
Photos of them together at that charity event went global, and although they were not yet dating, they were prophetic. As Evans reveals, a few weeks later, their love story began, marked by media pressure that they, in his view, did not handle well. 'We were a volatile couple and had the most dramatic arguments. On several occasions, I stormed out of his New York apartment in the middle of winter, suitcase in hand, only to return cold and with my tail between my legs!' he describes. 'Jon and I were in a relationship akin to flamenco: full of love and passion, but also fury, torment, and drama in abundance,' he adds.
'It was addictive. Jon was addictive, the drama was too, but in the end, it overwhelmed us. It wouldn't have worked without the press's interest. We were both focused on our careers,' he describes. A passion that ended 'very sadly', so much so that he doesn't go into details. 'It took us a long time to be in the same room together,' he laments, but time heals all wounds, and they eventually reconciled at a mutual friend's birthday. 'It was wonderful to see him; we hugged, and what I find amazing is that we are now good friends and can laugh about the past,' he concludes.
