Real Madrid has confirmed that Luka Modric will not be available to play in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final this Thursday against Mallorca due to a viral infection. According to the official statement released by the club, the Croatian midfielder is suffering from a fever and his recovery is pending: "Our player Luka Modric is unavailable for today's match against RCD Mallorca due to a viral infection. Recovery is pending."

Modric's absence is a setback for Carlo Ancelotti, who has used the veteran player mainly as a substitute in the second halves this season. Although the Croatian was not expected to start, his experience and ability to bring balance to the team make him a key player in crucial moments.

Without Modric, Ancelotti will have options like Güler, Ceballos, and Brahim to strengthen the midfield, along with some youth players who have been called up for this competition in Saudi Arabia.

If Real Madrid manages to overcome Mallorca in this semi-final, Modric could be available for Sunday's final, where they would face the winner of the match between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.
