Mercería Mabe has won the competition for the best Hogueras showcase with their creation of Luceros Square featuring horses made of crochet, paying homage to the traditional mascletàs. This shop in La Florida takes the first prize of 3,000 euros, while the 'Cáscaras y Semillas' stall in the Central Market has secured second place.

The work by Mercería Mabe involved over six months of dedicated effort to recreate Luceros Square, while Cáscaras y Semillas crafted a meticulous showcase in tribute to the Hogueras and a recreation of Alicante's coat of arms with their products.

The competition, driven by the Alicante City Council, aims to highlight the city's commercial fabric, energising it while filling the streets with a festive atmosphere by involving businesses in creating elaborate decorations.

Both businesses received their awards with great "satisfaction and excitement" from the Councillor for Commerce, Lidia López, who thanked them for "their involvement this year in creating these two works of art. Both are well-deserved awards with exceptional design and the best initiatives and designs of this edition for their originality and ingenuity."

In the competition that has promoted commerce and attracted new customers with its high-quality designs, a third prize was also awarded to 10 showcases, each receiving 1,000 euros. The shops selected for their designs and proposals by the jury included Autoservicio del Hogar, Visión Alicante, Sharewow España, Heria salons and beauty institute, La Orquídea, Charcuteria Rafael Serna, Reformas Florida Portazgo s.l., Indumentaria Ana Ballester, Grisalla, and Carnicería el Pinoser.

Councillor Lidia López expressed her gratitude for "the involvement in this competition, which began over five years ago as an initiative by the City Council to support the commercial sector, one of the city's main economic drivers, and to reward the establishments that actively participate in our major Hogueras festivities."
