Luceros Erupts with Spectacular Fireworks and Earthquake of the Mediterranean Mascletà

Impressive. This is how the mascletà on Sunday, June 22, at Alicante's Luceros square was described. The Mediterranean Fireworks from Vilamarxant went all out, bursting the eardrums of everyone who came to witness this masterpiece.

The Mediterranean team is very clear about their goal: to repeat as the winning mascletà at the 2025 Hogueras, following their victory last year. They delivered an "exquisite" and "delicatessen" display, as the audience described it, amid applause and cheers, with top scores from the balconies.

The statistics were equally impressive: 150 kilograms of gunpowder detonated in six minutes and twelve seconds, reaching a power of 128.4 decibels.

The mascletà, as usual, began with the shout of the belleas del foc and their dames d'honor: "Senyor pirotècnic." This signaled the Vilamarxant team to ignite the Valencian firecracker, announcing that Luceros was about to erupt. From the first second, as soon as the line ended, palm trees and flashes lit up the skies.

There were four aerial phases that made Alicante rumble, featuring various devices like roncadoras and whistles, followed by an initial bombardment that hinted at the power of this mascletà, the fifth in the Hogueras competition at Luceros.

During the 'impasse,' the crowd began cheering the display, just minutes before its start. This encouraged the Mediterranean team to continue with new aerial phases of retentions, featuring more shells and thunder, setting a frenetic pace.

As the gunpowder burned in the air, more firecrackers joined the explosion: whistles and sirens harmonized with the thunder, marking each blow, which continued with a first ground firecracker, another ovation, and a final bombardment before the central body.

Thus, the octopuses began to ignite with their traditional accompaniment in the air, a sound reminiscent of a song's tone, increasing in power with each passing second of the mascletà. The sets detonated 'in crescendo' with new retentions that made the asphalt vibrate.

All this culminated in an impressive smoke curtain that turned the square into 'Luceros Hill,' showcasing the 150 kilograms of gunpowder brought by the Vilamarxant team. In the final stages of the central body, the calibers increased, creating a sound spectacle worthy of this cathedral.

And not only that, but the rumbling of the last meters announced the long-awaited earthquake, unyielding in quantity and time. Exploding at two heights, it achieved a unique power that burst eardrums and caused the plaza to erupt.

It was far from short, as more than 7,500 devices concluded the Mediterranean mascletà in the air, with a tremendous bombardment that had the audience jumping before ending with two final blows. These ceased with the crowd's "wow" and the shout of "this is a mascletà."
