Lucas Pérez's revelation about his family issues has been met with a response from his sister and aunt. The PSV Eindhoven forward disclosed this week that he was abandoned by his parents in an orphanage. 'I was raised by my grandparents, my father's parents. At two years old, my parents left me in an orphanage because they couldn't or didn't want to take care of me,' he recounted on 'El partidazo'. He also mentioned, 'This season, I received a lawsuit from my father demanding maintenance for the rest of his life. From there, I spent several months stressed and anxious because I had to relive very difficult moments of my life.'

Days later, his sister Sara wanted to share her version of events and denied that the forward was abandoned. 'I didn't expect that interview, honestly. I hoped he would have the values not to speak about the family. It hurts me, I spent years looking for him with letters and in every way despite not having a childhood like all children want,' she stated on 'Y ahora Sonsoles', an Antena 3 program.

'I don't think it's right for his father to ask him for money, I already said, if I were famous, I wouldn't like it either, but saying he was abandoned is a lie,' Sara defended. 'Here in Monelos, his family cared for him like another son, the grandparents who brainwashed him saying my mother's family was bad and had abandoned him in a nursery, would never think of doing that,' she added.

Years trying to reunite

Moreover, the sister shared, 'I spent years trying to reunite with him, to feel like I had another brother. I don't know what he did with the letters I wrote, but I would like him to appreciate what I did for him despite not knowing me.' 'I would like him to have the courage to say "I have a sister and despite the bad, she is here,"' she affirmed.

The young woman acknowledged the tough childhood she herself experienced: 'Honestly, I didn't have a very good childhood either, but at no point did they think of harming me and they cared for me despite the problems that arose.'
