Lucas Pérez has been diagnosed with tuberculosis. The Galician forward from PSV Eindhoven has been sidelined by the Dutch team after it was discovered that he has active tuberculosis and will need to be isolated for at least three weeks, as announced by De Telegraaf. The former Deportivo player, who signed with PSV at the end of February, has only been able to play 24 minutes with the Dutch club. It is unknown if Lucas Pérez will be able to return to play for the remainder of the season.

After playing just three matches with PSV, all as a substitute, the illness will force Lucas Pérez to be in quarantine for at least three weeks to be treated with antibiotics. PSV has activated all protocols to investigate the player's closest contacts and to test the rest of the players. According to PSV, there are no indications that there are more infections from this contagious disease, which can be cured with antibiotics today.

According to De Telegraaf, Lucas Pérez "will be out for a long time and it is very doubtful that he will be able to play again this season." The newspaper highlights that "the short time Lucas Pérez has been at PSV could have a positive effect in limiting the number of infections."

Lucas Pérez played three minutes against Go Ahead Eagles (PSV's 3-2 defeat), eight minutes also against the same opponent in the Cup, with another defeat (1-2), and finally, 13 minutes in the victory against Waalwijk by 0-3. Currently, PSV is second in the Dutch league, six points behind Ajax, after being eliminated from the Champions League and the Cup.
