Loli Cano Peña: "Les Fogueres have given me very fun moments with my family, bringing us much closer together"

Loli Cano Peña is a festera by birth. This is evident from her memories. "My parents took me in a stroller to their barraca, Ací no fem res, from a very young age." Years later, this Alicante native became a foguerer.

Her festive history highlights her years in Calvo Sotelo as a child lady, child bellea, and child president, before becoming a lady of honour and bellea in Explanada, her current district, which she now represents as a candidate for bellea del foc of Alicante.

All these years in the Hogueras of Alicante feel like "a passion I share with my family." The Fiesta, she confesses, "has given me very fun and unique moments, bringing us much closer together."

From the festive calendar, Loli Cano Peña highlights the plantà and the flower offering to the Virgen del Remedio. The first because "you can already see in the streets of Alicante the eagerness to start the days of Hogueras and the good atmosphere of our Fiesta"; while the parade "is very emotional," as foguerers and barraquers dress in "our best attire" to deliver bouquets to the patron saint.

Among the many memories she holds about the Fiesta, this Alicante native shares an anecdote from a presentation Sunday. "I saw the mantilla a bit odd, but after looking at it several times, we left it as it was." However, Loli looked at her phone before going on stage, and at that moment, her president noticed it was on backwards. At that moment, she took it off and "lovingly and quickly placed it perfectly."
