The Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) is fortifying some of the main arteries of the national geography with up to 24 new speed cameras strategically placed on Spanish roads to reduce road accidents, as announced last Wednesday by the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, during his visit to the Automated Complaint Centre in León.
Of these new speed controls, four will be in the province of Alicante and another four in Valencia. The roads in Alicante that will have new fixed speed cameras are the A-77a, CV-905, CV-86, and N-332. Meanwhile, the capital of Turia is reinforced with two section speed cameras on the A-3 and V-23, and two fixed ones on the V-31, known as the Pista de Silla, and the CV-410.
Additionally, the other 16 new speed cameras installed by Traffic will be located in the north, east, and south of the Peninsula, specifically in the provinces of A Coruña, Asturias, Lugo, Ourense, Pontevedra, Almería, Málaga, and Granada.
As is often the case, these new speed control points are signposted on the road, published on the DGT website, and their locations made available to operators for inclusion in their navigation systems.

For a month, drivers exceeding the speed limit on roads where these new speed cameras are located will receive an informative letter warning them that they have been caught speeding. After a month, drivers exceeding the speed limit will be fined and receive a ticket with the corresponding amount.
Furthermore, it is planned that throughout 2025, the installation of 122 new speed control points will continue. It is worth noting that inappropriate speed remains a contributing factor in 21% of fatal accidents.
