Local Police in Petrer successfully concluded a comprehensive operation on Wednesday morning to capture an alleged abuser who caused panic to his partner 24 hours earlier. After being assaulted, the victim managed to escape and sought refuge at the offices of the Social Services Department of the Petrer Town Hall, where she called for help.

The incident occurred early on Tuesday, June 3rd. The municipal department staff attended to the woman and raised the alarm to activate the comprehensive care protocol for victims of gender violence, according to Town Hall sources.

The operation concluded successfully with the arrest of the suspect, who has already been transferred to the National Police Station to process the corresponding proceedings. The Town Hall of Petrer "strongly condemns the brutal assault" suffered by this resident, who entered the Social Services premises in a state of shock and with visible injuries, the same sources add.

The Local Police accompanied the woman to the Emergency Department of Elda Hospital, where she received medical assistance and a medical report was issued to serve as evidence in the judicial process. Subsequently, she was escorted by officers to the National Police Station in Elda, where she filed a complaint and was attended by the professionals of the Family and Women's Unit (UFAM). This police team will continue with the legal and protective procedure against the aggressor.

The Town Hall of Petrer emphasizes that "detecting and reporting any form of gender violence, no matter how minor it may seem, is key to preventing more serious situations." Therefore, it calls on all citizens to act responsibly and courageously: "If you are a victim or know someone who might be, do not remain silent."

Help Channels

Remember that there are multiple channels to seek help, such as the 016 hotline, which leaves no trace on the bill; the Local Police of Petrer, offering close and direct attention; and the National Police, through 112, with specialized units in gender violence. Additionally, municipal Social Services are prepared to provide immediate psychological, legal, and social support, according to the Town Hall.

Precisely this Wednesday, a course on criminal and procedural specialization in gender violence and the operation of the VIOGÉN 2 system began at the Local Police facilities in Petrer, organized by the municipal Equality department. Juan A. Jover Pinar, a brigadier of the Civil Guard and one of the country's leading experts in this field, is responsible for teaching it.

During five sessions, fifty officers from the Security Forces and Corps of various municipalities in the Valencian Community will receive specific training on topics such as data protection, action in parental conflicts in the educational field, protection orders, breaches, victim accreditation, and management of high-complexity cases in the VIOGÉN system. This action, with accreditation requested from IVASPE, is funded by the State Pact against Gender Violence and "reflects Petrer's firm commitment in the fight against this social scourge," municipal sources emphasize.

The mayor, Irene Navarro, who inaugurated this second course held in Petrer, highlighted the importance of this training for "officers who are on the ground, who are our reference in protection and the fight against gender violence."
