Alicante dresses up for carnival in all its aspects. Several sectors, including local businesses, hospitality, and municipal markets, have joined forces with the City Council to organise various celebrations featuring costume contests, promotions, and offers to boost shopping over the weekend.
During these carnival festivities, starting this Thursday, February 27th, shops will dress up their shop windows with fun proposals designed for the occasion. All under the slogan 'Whatever you're looking for, it's in your local shop', the core of this Alicante campaign.
The specialised carnival parties will be held this Saturday, March 1st, in the morning, before giving way to the Sábado Ramblero. Traders will dress up during the day to present the offers they have prepared for these dates, along with new products and promotions.
Among the different proposals is the Quintana area, which, along with entities and commercial zones, has prepared costume activities in all its venues to encourage people to participate and join this carnival celebration in Alicante.
Additionally, the shops in Alicante's neighbourhoods and markets are decorated and launch offers for these weeks; with a focus on the 25th of May square, behind the Central Market, which will feature a costume runway and a Sunday afternoon event on March 1st, organised by the foguera Mercado Central.
The aim of this initiative is to attract customers in the neighbourhoods and encourage them to choose to shop daily at nearby establishments and local businesses during the annual festivals and celebrations held in the city.
The Councillor for Commerce and Hospitality, Lidia López, stated that "these campaigns aim to give visibility to local commerce throughout the year, which is the engine of our economy, to unite the sector to strengthen it and to promote proximity shopping as a hallmark since small businesses play a fundamental role in the daily life of the city."
The commercial revitalisation campaign has been complemented with posters that can be seen in the local shops of Alicante. Councillor Lidia López highlighted its value, noting that "they are yielding very good results, and we organise them throughout the year as an attraction along with other initiatives such as subsidies and the consumption voucher, which have also become an important incentive for our commercial sector, bringing it closer to citizens and promoting shopping and leisure."
The Alicante City Council, through the Department of Commerce, Markets and Hospitality, has a municipal revitalisation plan in place and promotes several campaigns throughout the year, such as the one organised last week with great success for Valentine's Day, or the upcoming ones for Father's Day, Mother's Day, the Spring Festival, Halloween, or the important Christmas campaign.
