French brand Ligier, specialized in microcars, advances in its electric offensive with the launches of the JS50 and the update of the Myli. After starting its offensive in the summer of 2023 with the commercialization of the Myli, the company has just presented its second electric model in a world premiere at the Paris Motor Show: the new generation of its bestseller JS50, which debuts in a first phase with a 100% zero-emission version. Likewise, the brand unveiled, for the first time, the update of the Myli, which sees its equipment significantly improved.
The JS50, which customers can already order and will begin to be delivered in Spain from December, is available with a light quadricycle (L6e) homologation —accessible from 15 years old with the AM moped license— and heavy (L7e) —for drivers from 18 years old with the B permit—.
With its commercialization, Ligier inaugurates a new design language for its JS range that inherits the brand's sporty DNA from Formula 1. On the outside, it offers a coupe aesthetic featuring very fluid lines, an expressive and well-crafted front with a carbon-finished bumper, full LED headlights with an impressive light signature, and wheels up to 16 inches in matte black. Meanwhile, the interior also reflects the competition's hallmark, thanks to a carbon-effect instrument panel, sporty bucket-type seats with elegant stitching available in three upholsteries, as well as a series of LED inserts in the doors and dashboard.
One of the strengths of the JS50 is its technological and infotainment equipment, thanks to the presence of a 10-inch touchscreen tablet compatible with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, a Pioneer 6.0 HIFI audio system with six speakers, two USB connectors (type B and C), and an induction charging base for smartphones. It also stands out in the safety section, being the only light quadricycle with front and rear disc brakes and including daytime running lights and full LED headlights, power steering, double windshield wipers, and a mechanical suspension configuration that ensures great road stability.
Its comprehensive sporty approach is combined with a very practical character to make drivers' daily lives more comfortable. In this sense, the nanocar excels with numerous storage compartments in the cabin and a trunk capacity of 319 liters, expandable up to 471 if the shelf is removed.
In the propulsion system chapter, the new JS50 features an ultra-efficient synchronous motor of 5.6 kW that develops a very dynamic driving experience. The energy supply comes from lithium batteries of 8.28 kWh or 12.42 kWh, depending on the version, offering a range of up to 123 km and 192 km (WMTC cycle), respectively; the latter "leader in the sector" of light quadricycles. To gain efficiency, all models have an ECO mode that improves performance with enhanced regenerative braking.
Regarding the full charge of the accumulators, on a domestic outlet (230 volts-16 amperes), it takes about 4 hours and 15 minutes for the smallest and 6 hours and 15 minutes for the largest capacity.
Apart from the 100% electric mechanics with which it debuts in the market, the vehicle will incorporate at the end of the first quarter of 2025 the group's new diesel engine, called REVO D+, which complies with the stringent Euro 5+ environmental regulations.
The commercial offer of the new JS50, which starts at a price of 16,490 euros, is structured in three trim levels (Select, Elite, and Ultimate). The first is only marketed with the light quadricycle version (L6e), which reaches a speed of up to 45 km/h, while the other two also offer the possibility of accessing the heavy quadricycle variant (L7e), in which case the maximum speed is limited to 75 km/h.
The arrival of the attractive electric JS50 will be accompanied by Ligier with a significant update of the zero-emission Myli, which will begin to be delivered from next spring in Spain, incorporating new equipment and improvements in each of the three trim levels (I.DEAL, E.PIC, and R.EBEL). Thus, the French manufacturer rounds off a commercial offer that was already very competitive for micromobility customers and will be sold from 14,990 euros.
Among the novelties are the double front windshield wipers, new more comfortable upholsteries, an electric opening system for the rear hatch, the Connect pack with wireless charging for mobile phones, new 16-inch wheels, or new rearview mirrors with LED indicators. Like the JS50, its range of engines will be enriched from the end of the first quarter of 2025 with the innovative REVO D+ diesel engine.
