A man has been arrested in Alicante for filing a false report with the National Police after believing his son had been robbed of a mobile phone while they were working together delivering packages. Investigations revealed contradictions in his statement, leading him to eventually admit, after being previously deceived by his son, that he had lied in his account.
According to the complainant's account, the incident occurred while he was delivering packages in Alicante. The supposed victim claimed that upon entering a building to deliver a series of packages, three young men with covered faces, aged between 20 and 30, approached him threateningly and demanded all his belongings. It was then, fearing assault, that he handed over the packages to the assailants, who fled the scene after the robbery.
The father had filed the report after leaving his son, who occasionally helped him with work, delivering other packages on a nearby street. After losing sight of him, he called and was told by his son that three boys had robbed him of several packages with intimidation.
Faced with this situation, and warned by his company about the obligation to file a report to avoid covering the costs and being covered by the insurer, the man fabricated the version presented in his report.
The National Police began the investigation based on the report, but soon suspicions arose due to some inconsistencies in the complainant's testimony. In a subsequent statement, he confessed to the officers that he had lied in his account and that it was not him who had been robbed, but his son.
Additionally, the young man admitted after confessing what had happened that he had also lied, as he had not been robbed through intimidation, but the packages had been stolen while he was distracted. Finally, following these statements, the police officers proceeded to arrest the father for alleged simulation of a crime. The proceedings were brought to the attention of the Duty Court of Instruction in Alicante.
