Lidl Opens New Supermarket in Calpe Following a Seven Million Euro Investment

Lidl continues its expansion in the province of Alicante with the opening this morning of its second store in Calpe, specifically located at Avenida Diputación, 35. The launch of this new establishment has involved an investment of nearly 7 million euros for the construction and equipping of facilities that employ 20 people.

The store, which opens its doors from Monday to Sunday from 8:30 am to 10:00 pm, boasts a commercial area of 1,485 square metres where fresh produce, vegetables, fish, and bakery items take centre stage. Additionally, it includes a selection of local products.

The opening of this new sales point has contributed to the growth of Lidl's workforce in the Valencian Community, where the company already employs around 1,600 people. These professionals are distributed among the 80 stores that the chain already has in the Community, 20 of which have been inaugurated in the last five years.

The new supermarket offers nearly 190 parking spaces – almost 130 on the surface and more than 60 underground – including five charging points for electric vehicles, promoting the use of more sustainable mobility alternatives.

The Mayor of Calpe, Ana Sala, accompanied by other municipal representatives and the regional director of Lidl for the southern area of the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia, Miquel Alberola, wanted to see first-hand the facilities this store offers to the municipality. After touring its facilities, the mayor stated that the opening of this new store "represents excellent news for Calpe, not only because of the economic investment it entails but also for the creation of local employment and the improvement in the commercial offer of the municipality."

Furthermore, she thanked Lidl for its commitment to this municipality and "its commitment to sustainability and quality in service. This type of initiative strengthens Calpe as a benchmark for development and well-being in the Marina Alta."

During the visit, the Lidl representative in the southern area of the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia emphasised: "We continue to bet on sustainable growth, relying on local suppliers and promoting healthy eating. Calpe is a strategic location both for its commercial dynamism and its high tourist influx, and we are convinced that this new sales point will be a reference for residents and visitors." Additionally, he added that "with this new store, we not only bring our offer of fresh, quality products at the best price closer to more customers, but we also generate stable and quality employment in the municipality."
