Liam Payne's Autopsy Reveals Cause of One Direction Member's Death

Liam Payne, singer and former member of the band One Direction, died this Tuesday, October 16, after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Hours after his death, surrounded by mysteries and after it was revealed that the artist was under the influence of drugs and alcohol, the autopsy now confirms the cause of death.

The forensic analysis conducted on Liam Payne's body by the medical examiners at the Judicial Morgue of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires indicates in its preliminary report that the singer, only 31 years old, died due to "multiple injuries" resulting from the fall he suffered from a third floor, which caused "internal and external bleeding".

As already confirmed by the authorities dispatched to the scene, Payne had fallen from a third floor to the inner courtyard of the hotel where he was staying, CasaSur Palermo, in the center of Buenos Aires.

"A SAME team confirmed the death (...) He had injuries incompatible with life due to his fall. We had to confirm the death," said the director of the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) of Buenos Aires, Alberto Crescenti, in statements to the television channel TeleNoticias. Emergency services took less than ten minutes to arrive at the scene after receiving a call shortly after 5:00 p.m. (local time).

Previously, hotel workers made another call for help to the police because one of their guests, presumably Payne, was in an uncontrollable state and was a danger to the other hotel guests and also to himself. "We have a guest who is overwhelmed by drugs and is breaking the entire room. We need someone to come... and we need someone to be sent urgently because, well, I don't know if the guest's life is at risk," they stated.

Payne was in Buenos Aires spending a few days in the Argentine capital after attending his former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan's concert at the Movistar Arena on October 2.
