The tension in Alcoy is palpable, and coach Vicente Mir has decided to step aside. The former coach of Hércules, Elche, and Real Murcia resigned following Alcoyano's dismal defeat against Antequera at El Collao. The Alicante team went into halftime with a narrow 2-1 lead but was overwhelmed in the second half by a direct rival like Fuenlabrada (2-4). As a result, Alcoyano is now second to last, three points from safety, with a dreadful record of one win in the last ten games.

"No one has fired me; the resignation came from me because when you're not wanted somewhere, it's best to leave... I'm at an age where I can't endure so many insults; it's not just a 'leave now,' there are many insults and disrespect in my own field... No worker deserves to be insulted in that way," Mir explained at El Collao after the match against Fuenlabrada.

"The players are capable of overcoming this situation, but I honestly think that with me on the bench, it was impossible. The players need the crowd on their side, and I hope my departure helps them feel supported in these last six matches," added Mir, who replaced Juli mid-season, while Vicente Parras started the league and was dismissed in a decision that was clearly unjust.

Mir described the second half against Antequera as "disastrous" and wished Alcoyano luck in this final stretch of the league, where survival will be particularly challenging due to the multitude of teams involved in the fight. In fact, only Intercity seems doomed, as they are at the bottom of the table, nine points from safety.

Deportivo will end the season visiting Atlético B, Sanluqueño, and Algeciras, while hosting Recreativo de Huelva, Intercity, and Castilla at El Collao. Meanwhile, owner Juan Carlos Ramírez, the center of all criticism and the main person responsible for this disaster, is now considering alternatives in search of his fourth coach of the season.
