Who hasn't dreamed of building a bonfire in Alicante? The Local Development Agency provides an opportunity for residents to learn the craft firsthand through a course lasting nearly seven months.
This agency, part of the Alicante City Council, has launched a series of courses available from July, including training as an 'Apprentice bonfire artist'. Enrollment, limited to 15 students, is open until the 21st of this month.
The workshop begins on July 25th and is aimed at unemployed individuals who will learn techniques to construct bonfires. The teaching includes a study of graphic representation and necessary group procedures.

Participants in this program, whose pre-registration is now available, will be able to construct all elements of a bonfire, and apply them in a real setting such as a plantà.
The teaching program consists of 450 hours, divided into eight modules covering various aspects of the bonfire artist profession: necessary procedures for assembling a bonfire using the most suitable products, materials, and machinery.
The topics and modules include technical design of the bonfire; production planning; organization and production of structures and scenic machinery; organization and production of corporeal figures and ninots; organization and production of props; organization of the bonfire plantà; evaluation and prevention of occupational risks, and innovation and entrepreneurship.
The apprentice bonfire artist course will be held until December at the 'Alejandrina Candela' Employment and Training Centre, located on Doctor Jiménez Díaz Avenue (Gran Vía).
