The University of Alicante is announcing a new edition of its Rafael Altamira Summer Courses, offering a programme that this year includes thirty titles. These will be held from June to September at the UA campuses in San Vicente del Raspeig and Alcoi, in the city of Alicante (Alicante City Venue, ICALI, and Lucentum Studios-EDA), and at the university venues in Calpe, Cocentaina, Elda, La Nucía, Petrer, Torrevieja, and Villena. This year's edition coincides with the celebration of the Altamira Year declared by the El Campello Town Hall in tribute to the humanist, whose remains now rest in his childhood village.

Larissa Timofeeva, Director of the University Extension Secretariat, responsible for these courses, highlights among the many novelties of the 2025 edition "a significant update of the offering and the incorporation of the micro-credential training model". Of the thirty courses scheduled, sixteen are offered under this innovative model promoted by the European Union.

The UA strengthens its institutional ties with the Alicante Bar Association (ICALI) and the National Police Corps (CNP), as highlighted by Vice-Chancellor Iliescu. Specifically, two courses have been scheduled in micro-credential format with ICALI: New Scenario for Tourist Accommodation in the Valencian Community after the Entry into Force of Decree Law 9/2024 (from 26 to 27 June) and From the Incorporation of ADR to the Transformation of the Civil Justice System in Spain (from 3 to 4 July); and a course with the CNP addressing, on this occasion, the issue of Cybercrime and Artificial Intelligence: An Unstoppable Threat? (from 2 to 4 July).

The international courses of the programme are also maintained, with two proposals in this edition: ProtoLAB ALICANTE (from 7 to 14 July, non-face-to-face) in collaboration with the University of Wroclaw (Poland); and Summer Business Program (from 30 June to 24 July) in collaboration with the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Regarding the various proposed modalities, Hèctor Rubio i Marín, Technical Coordinator of the University Extension Secretariat, states that "the implementation process of micro-credentials creates a favourable framework to highlight the flexible and specialised nature of our offering, which in this edition includes 20 face-to-face courses, 3 non-face-to-face, one semi-face-to-face, and 6 more in dual format to respond to the diversity of personal and professional realities of the students". He also highlights that "a significant effort has been made to renew the themes of our catalogue of training proposals, always oriented towards the development of professional skills that facilitate adaptation to a dynamic labour market".

13 courses at the San Vicente campus

Following these educational lines, thirteen courses are held at the San Vicente del Raspeig campus covering a wide range of topics: Delving into Intestinal Microbiota Alterations: What Can We Do?; Language Acquisition with Emerging Technologies (Educational Artificial Intelligence) in Multimodal Environments; Socio-psycho-educational Approach to Early Adversity as the Origin of Neurodevelopmental Disorders and Behavioural Problems in Childhood and Adolescence; How to Integrate SDGs into Business Strategy; From Theory to Practice. Biotechnological Applications of Halophilic Archaea; as well as the aforementioned international courses and in collaboration with the CNP.
