The LASAL project by artist Guillermo Fornes arrives at the La Lonja del Pescado exhibition hall this Friday, where it will remain until October 26th. The artist reflects on the essence of nature and its social and economic relationship from the perspective of salt flats management through 24 canvases and eight tables simulating salt pools. Salt, the artist explains, "connects the earthly with fire and water, expressing one of the oldest concepts of the universe: duality. Salt reflects the two opposing forces of nature."

Fornes, based between Ibiza and Madrid, primarily engages in painting, printmaking, and Land Art. He now presents in Alicante the LASAL project, which consists of the museum presentation of his Land Art work carried out in the Ses Salines Natural Park of Ibiza, within the salt mountains of Salinera Española. From La Lonja, they note that "Alicante has protected lands around its own salt flats, the natural parks of Salinas Santa Pola and Salinas de Torrevieja, which are ecological environments of extraordinary environmental value." They add, "The salt industry has played an important role in the Valencian territory, in the past as an economic resource and currently, besides this aspect, as a guardian of a unique habitat of exceptional ecological and landscape value," bringing Fornes' project closer to the Alicante territory.
