The Ministry of Labor seems to have supported the main argument presented by Nacho Cano in his defense within the case opened by a Madrid court regarding the alleged irregular situation of his interns. Inspectors from the department led by Yolanda Díaz have certified that the 17 Mexican apprentices of the musical 'Malinche' directed by the musician, composer, and singer were in order and did not have to be included in the Social Security system as they were undergoing "non-regulated" training.

This is stated in the report sent to Madrid's Investigating Court No. 19 at the request of its head, within the framework of the investigation into Nacho Cano for alleged crimes against the rights of foreign citizens and crimes against workers' rights. It states that "there is no evidence indicating that the practices carried out by the interns at the mentioned company imply a concealed employment relationship," citing Article 1.1 of the Workers' Statute, reports Europa Press.

In the same vein, the document reiterates that these students "are undergoing non-regulated training" and, therefore, "not included in the educational system, so it is not necessary to include interns in the Social Security system."

Surprise Action

The inspection was carried out "without prior notice" to the company and at the request of the National Police. The agents and Labor official burst into Madrid's San Juan de la Cruz Parish, where various people were receiving singing, acting, flamenco, and personal training classes.

For an extended period, the inspector gathered documentation on the employment conditions of the interns and interviewed them.

After learning about the initiation of proceedings, on July 9th, the composer appeared before the media and stated that his visit to the police station was due to his "support" for Madrid's Community President Isabel Díaz Ayuso, describing the action as a "political persecution" and directly pointing at Sánchez's government.
