Kendrick Perry secured the third Copa del Rey title for Unicaja and became the third green MVP in the tournament. Following in the footsteps of Jorge Garbajosa (2005) and his teammate Tyson Carter (2023), Perry took on the role of hero for the Málaga team.
His individual accolade was backed by 27 points, 6 assists, and 2 rebounds, with an impressive four out of six in three-point shooting and a perfect record in the nine free throws he attempted. The American point guard, who gained Montenegrin nationality during his time with Buducnost, is a true globetrotter of European basketball. His peak moment arrived at the age of 32, in his third season at Martín Carpena, where he found the stability needed to advance his career.
Perry was born in 1992 in the small town of Ocoee, Florida, and developed his skills with the State Penguins at Youngstown University in Ohio. After going undrafted in 2014, he sought opportunities beyond the NBA. He played for the Sydney Kings in Australia before joining the NBA Development League with the Iowa Energy. His journey continued through the exotic basketball scenes of Hungary and North Macedonia. His career path included Nizhny Novgorod in Russia, Levallois in France, Cedevita Olimpija in Slovenia, Panathinaikos in Greece, and finally Buducnost in Montenegro, which paved the way for his arrival at Unicaja in 2022.
