While not frequent, Kate Middleton's public appearances are gradually becoming more natural. The latest was last weekend in Balmoral, where she was photographed inside a vehicle driven by her husband, Prince William, as they headed with their eldest son, George, to a religious service. The heir's wife appeared relaxed and smiling upon arriving at Crathie Church, where she met King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who arrived in another car.
This image of the princess is very different from the first photo taken of her after her cancer diagnosis, which had not yet been made public at that time. On that occasion, she was also in the passenger seat of a car driven by her mother, Carole, near Windsor Castle, looking very serious and hiding her gaze behind large sunglasses.
Now, Kate Middleton is in Scotland with her husband and children, accompanying the king during his summer holidays at Balmoral Castle, one of the monarch's favorite places.
It had been 15 days since the last public image of the princess, which was a video recorded with Prince William to congratulate British athletes who participated in the Paris Olympics, filmed at their home in Norfolk, Anmer Hall, where they spent the hottest days of summer. Although we hadn't seen them since then, it was reported that the whole family attended the Gone Wild festival at Holkham Hall, where they enjoyed a fun water gun fight.
All these news suggest a satisfactory recovery for King Charles's daughter-in-law after the tough blow of her cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales underwent surgery on January 16 for an abdominal procedure about which no further details were provided. After the official statement announcing that the operation had been successful, there was an information blackout leading to numerous speculations about the heir's wife's health. Meanwhile, the monarch also underwent surgery for benign prostate enlargement and was subsequently diagnosed with cancer.
Now, journalist Concha Calleja has revealed on the program 'Fiesta' that Kate "felt paralyzing fear." "She said she had a face-to-face encounter with death and that the future would change," she asserted. In any case, caution prevails, so an immediate return to public duties for the princess is not expected, although she will continue to make appearances as long as her health and mood permit. For now, the preventive chemotherapy treatment she is undergoing allowed her to participate in the Trooping the Colour parade in June and present the Wimbledon Championship trophy in July to this year's winner, Carlos Alcaraz. In this regard, British Royal Family specialist Phil Dampier has noted that "we can expect to see her at some public engagements but gradually and depending on medical advice."
