Juan Margallo (Cáceres, 1940) passed away this Sunday in Madrid. A key figure in independent theatre alongside his partner, actress Petra Margallo, he was part of iconic groups in the sixties and seventies such as Tábano, El Búho, and El Gayo Vallecano. In the mid-eighties, he founded the Uroc company with Martínez, staging works by authors like Dario Fo, Roberto Athayde, Jorge Márquez, and Margallo himself. In 2022, both were awarded the National Theatre Award.
Moved and devastated by the farewell of #JuanMargallo. A “terrible loss,” in the words of Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, mourned today by AISGE, his home. The “insatiable curious,” the best example that to be a good actor, one must be a good manhttps://t.co/WD2EfFkFpf pic.twitter.com/xDuDYVerw5
