From rock star to social media hero. This is what happened to American singer Jon Bon Jovi (New Jersey, 62 years old), who has been receiving praise and congratulations after preventing a woman from jumping off a pedestrian bridge in Nashville (Tennessee, United States) where the band was coincidentally filming a music video. The moment when the renowned rocker talks to the woman, convinces her not to jump, and finally, once she is safe, embraces her warmly, has been captured by a security camera and has gone viral.

The leader and vocalist of the American band, known for hits like 'Livin' on a Prayer', one of the great successes of the 80s, or 'It's My Life', has received congratulations and thousands of messages of gratitude from his legion of fans. He has also received praise from the Nashville Police Department, which acknowledged the artist's commendable effort and shared a statement on their X account: "A thank you to Bon Jovi and his team for helping a woman on the John Seigenthaler pedestrian bridge on Tuesday night. He helped persuade her to step away from the edge of the Cumberland River and get to safety," reads the text to which local Police Chief John Drake proudly adds, "We all need to help each other stay safe."

In the recorded footage, you can see the woman, dressed in a blue shirt, already hanging from the outer side of the bridge's safety railing that spans the Cumberland River, ready to jump into the void. Then Bon Jovi and a production assistant calmly approach her and convince her to get to safety.

According to what can be seen in the video, it is the singer's companion who first approaches the woman with a caring attitude, gently touches her back, and speaks some words to her. Bon Jovi maintains a prudent distance until he also calmly approaches and starts conversing with her. It is then that the woman changes her mind and, assisted by the singer, jumps back to the safe side of the railing. Once safe, emotions run high among the three as they share an emotional hug shortly before being surrounded by other pedestrians.

Coincidentally, Bon Jovi was shooting a music video for his song 'The People's House' on the bridge which, despite the filming, remained open to the public. The structure, built in 1889 although it has undergone significant transformations over the years, functions as a pedestrian bridge named in honor of local journalist and politician John Seigenthaler.

Despite the heroic act of the singer spreading like wildfire on social media, for now, the rocker maintains a prudent silence about the incident that has earned him praise from half the world.
