The Lexus LM is a luxury minivan designed to transform a five-hour journey, such as the one from Madrid to La Coruña, into a leisurely drive. Covering the entire A-6, a total of 595 kilometres on highways, the vehicle showcases its full potential by merging driving pleasure with comfort and ease of travel.

Externally, the LM impresses with its powerful front and distinctive grille, leaving no one indifferent. Its appearance is almost that of a spaceship, a sensation that intensifies upon entering and taking the wheel.

We departed from Spain's capital at dawn in the heart of winter. Ahead lay nearly six hundred kilometres through the Madrid mountains, the Castilian steppe, the mountains of El Bierzo, and the winding roads of Galicia. The entire route is on multi-lane roads. The only threat—realised—was the fog, along with the fatigue that such a long journey might entail. Behind the wheel of the Lexus LM, these two 'handicaps' dissipate.

The new LM combines limousine qualities with the spaciousness of a minivan. To mitigate the effect of its nearly two-metre height, Lexus has introduced improvements in the GA-K platform, providing a lower centre of gravity and greater rigidity. This contributes to handling stability, ride comfort, and overall noise and vibration levels.

It is equipped with a self-charging 2.5-litre hybrid electric engine, also found in the new NX 350h and RX 350h models, offering quiet and efficient operation. The total hybrid electric system power is 250 HP / 184 kW.

It features all-wheel drive thanks to the E-Four system, providing greater stability in curves and enhancing passenger comfort. Combined with the rear Comfort mode driving option, a novelty in Lexus, which adjusts suspension performance and torque distribution while suppressing vibrations, it helps both the vehicle and its occupants maintain a more comfortable posture.

For a long journey in a model exceeding five metres, safety features are crucial. The LM is equipped with the latest generation of active safety and driver assistance. These mechanisms can detect a wider range of accident risks by issuing alerts and reinforcing steering, brakes, and traction when necessary, to help avoid or mitigate impacts. They are adjusted to operate naturally and instil confidence in the driver.

The LM's cabin conveys a sense of spaciousness enhanced by natural light streaming through large windows. The vehicle's main seats are in the central row, offering a 'first-class' style and great comfort, with large adjustable headrests, integrated heating and ventilation, and a massage function.

The journey, under these conditions, is a breeze, especially for passengers who enjoy all the comforts of a first-class seat. Once in La Coruña, the LM might seem daunting when navigating its streets due to its size; however, the 5.130 metres are not an issue when manoeuvring thanks to its generous turning angle of 11.8 metres.

After crossing the centre of the Coruña capital, we head towards Riazor beach, a shell-shaped bay that embraces you as the waves crash in from the vastness of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, the Tower of Hercules stands imposingly guarding the harbour entrance.
