La Gare de Lyon is the starting point for a select club of aristocrats embarking on a journey through 19th century Europe. This journey unfolds in the pages of 'A Violin Played in Paris', the latest novel by María Reig, which takes the form of a menu to delight Alicante's palates.

The young author will present her new work this Friday, February 7th, at the Maestral Literary Evenings, sponsored by Vectalia and Asisa. In these evenings, she will explore, through various dishes designed for the occasion and an interview, the same landscapes and cities her characters visit.

Thus, each course will tell a story centered on the great European cities of the late 19th century, bringing to life the months of travel that this select club visits throughout the novel, with a rich historical backdrop, such as newly unified Italy, Austria-Hungary, and the new borders of the German Empire.

All this will be accompanied by 'Belle Èpoque' red wine, from the Casa Sicilia winery, which will be served throughout the menu designed by Maestral's culinary team. The dishes will begin with 'Butter croissant with cold cuts and cheese', 'Potato salad with smoked trout', and 'Pea cream, chicken, and aromatic mushrooms'.

The main course will be 'Goulash from the eastern region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire', before concluding with 'Rum baba, chantilly, and apricot' as dessert, which will precede a conversation with the author María Reig about 'A Violin Played in Paris'.
