Johnny Depp films in Spain with Penélope Cruz

Johnny Depp has returned to filming in Spain. Specifically, the American actor has settled in Vilanova i la Geltrú, where the main set for Day Drinker, the latest film by director Marc Webb, is located. The film, starring Depp alongside Penélope Cruz, is set to premiere next year.

According to Canal Blau, the Hollywood stars have been in the Catalan coastal town since last Wednesday, less than an hour from Barcelona, and will remain there for a week.

The film's plot tells the story of a waitress and a mysterious passenger who become embroiled in a criminal plot. Much of the scenes take place in a cruise ship bar, so the main set has been established on a yacht moored at Pendennis Vilanova, the city's marina, which is filled with technical teams, caravans, and trucks.

This is the fourth collaboration between Depp and Cruz, who first worked together in 2000 in Blow, directed by Ted Demme. Ten years later, they reunited in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Their last film together was Murder on the Orient Express in 2017. During this time, the American actor has formed a deep friendship with Penélope and her husband, Javier Bardem. Notably, the Spanish acting couple married in 2010 on an island in the Bahamas owned by Depp.

Recently, Johnny Depp seems to have developed a fondness for Spain. Just a few weeks ago, he visited Villaespesa, a small town in Teruel, where he was filming a perfume advertisement for Dior.
