Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso stated that she will continue to be "brave for all women" and will never stop "raising her voice or fighting" because future generations "deserve women's football free of prejudice and gender violence".
The international footballer received the Socrates Trophy during the Ballon d'Or Gala, which recognized her exemplary role in the development of women's football and equality, and her social commitment against violence and sexual assaults. The Tigres Mexican player was the center of the #SeAcabó campaign generated after the non-consensual kiss given to her following the final of the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand by then-president Luis Rubiales.
"First of all, I want to thank you all for this award because it really means a lot to me, also because it makes me even more aware of the responsibility all athletes have both on and off the field," said Jenni Hermoso.
