Two days after the verdict against Luis Rubiales was announced for the non-consensual kiss he gave at the end of the 2023 Women's World Cup final, Jenni Hermoso has broken her silence. "After everything, this will set an important precedent in a social environment where much remains to be done. My heart is full of each person who has been, is, and will continue to be with me in this fight. And now, it's over," the Tigres player wrote in a message posted on her Instagram account.
The text, accompanying a photo of the smiling footballer, marks Jenni Hermoso's first public statement on a verdict that sentenced the former president of the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) to pay a fine of 18 months at 20 euros per day, totaling 10,800 euros, and to compensate the complainant with 3,000 euros. Additionally, he is prohibited from approaching the player within 200 meters and communicating with her for a year.
Jenni Hermoso, who will appeal the "Rubiales case" verdict, as will the Prosecutor's Office and the AFE, believes the ruling sets a valuable precedent in the fight against such sexist behaviors. However, she also highlights the long road ahead to achieve a fairer and safer environment for women.

The player also expressed her gratitude for the support received throughout the process from all those who accompanied her during the long ordeal that began after she reported the non-consensual kiss from Rubiales, which concluded with the punishment imposed on the former head of Spanish football for committing a sexual assault, albeit with a lesser penalty as violence or intimidation in the sexual attack against the footballer was not proven.
