In every industry, there are numbers that hold significant meaning. Round figures are often set as targets to achieve, serving as psychological barriers. In Spain, the threshold for new car registrations is 1.2 million, while for used cars it is 2 million. Anything below these figures is a cause for concern, as highlighted by automotive associations in Spain since 2020.
Each brand has its own target, based on market share and the pressure from headquarters. In Spain, the best-selling brand was Toyota, surpassing 95,000 units (95,614). The growth compared to last year (+19.7%) was such that in Tokyo, they must be seeing 100,000 as a feasible goal for 2025.
When these targets are exceeded, they are a reason for celebration, but these barriers become more significant when they threaten to fall below. In the case of Jeep, which saw a 7.1% reduction in figures compared to 2024, they remained on the edge with 10,286 units, compared to 11,078 recorded the previous year.
The brand celebrates that "once again, the brand has surpassed the magical figure of 10,000 vehicles in Spain, with a 1% share of the total market." To achieve this milestone, they emphasize, "the Jeep Avenger has been crucial."
Their compact SUV was, as in 2023, the brand's best-selling model in Spain, with 6,305 registrations between January and December, a 28.6% increase over the previous year, and 280 of these were electric versions, accounting for 4.4% of the total.
As part of Stellantis, Jeep has also undertaken ambitious electrification projects for its brand and offers a variant, whether hybrid or electric, in each of its model ranges.
According to the manufacturer's figures, vehicles equipped with its plug-in 4xe system or that are completely zero emissions account for 13.1% of the brand's sales in Spain, or 1,345 registrations.
Jeep notes that from the rest of its range, "the Renegade achieves 1,920 registrations, while the Compass reaches 1,746 units registered. The Wrangler records an annual growth of 14.9%, with 239 sales, while the Grand Cherokee obtains 76 registrations."
