Elche's Local Government Board is set to approve the tender for the construction of the future Jayton Cultural Centre this Thursday. This ambitious project, with an investment of 14 million euros, will completely transform the Carrús area, as announced by the Mayor of Elche, Pablo Ruz. He highlighted that "this municipal government believes the neighbourhood deserves it, and this project will revitalise the entire area."

The new space will be built on the former Jayton site and will feature a 4,400 square metre building. It will include an auditorium with a capacity for 500 people, a cinema for 130 viewers, a multipurpose room of 155 square metres with an independent entrance, and an area of nearly 1,000 square metres designated for municipal offices.

Additionally, the complex will boast a large 300 square metre stage, a café spread over two floors, and two basement levels of free parking with capacity for 170 vehicles, complete with a surveillance system.

The building is structured into two volumes: on one side, the theatre-auditorium with a rectangular shape located to the north of the plot; on the other, the administrative block, which will house offices on the first and second floors and a multipurpose room on the ground floor. A plaza will open between the two blocks, connecting with Avenida de Novelda and the adjacent green area.

The Mayor explained that the construction works will take 18 months, and the awarding process could be resolved in about four months, which would allow construction to begin by the end of this year.

"We want to create a major city project in a neighbourhood like Carrús, with a deserved and necessary investment," emphasised Ruz, highlighting that, for the first time, the neighbourhood will have "a large scenic space, a cinema, and an iconic project in the vicinity of Avenida de Novelda."

Meanwhile, the third deputy mayor, Aurora Rodil, stated that "this municipal government has fulfilled one of its commitments to such an important neighbourhood as Carrús, the most populated in the municipality and in need of a profound transformation." Rodil concluded by assuring that "the dream will soon begin to become a reality."
