Jakob Ingebrigtsen had already achieved three European indoor doubles (1,500-3,000 metres), but he was yet to accomplish this feat at a World Championship. With this goal in mind, he travelled to China, and today the Norwegian has followed in the footsteps of another athletics great, Haile Gebrselassie, the only one to have achieved this indoor double in 1999.

Twenty-six years later, the Norwegian talent perfectly managed his energy to secure victory today in the 1,500 final. After the challenge posed by Aregawi in the 3,000, he faced fewer difficulties in defeating Britain's Gourley and America's Houser. Spain's Adrián Ben and Mariano García, the two Spaniards in the final, had no chance and finished sixth and eighth, respectively.

At 24 years old, the Norwegian continues to add milestones and medals to his sporting career. Ingebrigtsen now boasts 27 international medals, 22 of which are gold. His achievements include two Olympic golds, two world titles, six European outdoor titles, seven more European indoor golds, and 21 victories in the Diamond League.
